Women in Jazz Sweden

This coming week I will be working with a fantastic festival called Women in Jazz Sweden. It´s three days of total inspiration. During the daytime- free seminars about music, power and norms. During the evenings- only females on stage!

I think this will be a very interesting festival with a lot of good talks. One of the main reasons behind this festival is to open up a discussion and get people to meet. It´s a initiative from Kultur i Väst. Hat´s off!

My job will be the most fun of all tasks on the festival- artist host! So I will be at Jazz Club Nefertiti all festival through! Mhmm! See you there!

Speldags!

Idag startade turnén med Speldags! Vårt program heter "Jag vill nå dig", en hyllning till en av Sveriges mest mångfacetterade sångerskor- Lill Lindfors! Två veckor i bil med fantastiska pianisten Simon Westman.

Ps. maskot på turnén är min egen lilla Olle- snart 6 månader.

My talented second cousin Johan Theorin did an amazing job today as one of Sveriges Radios Sommarpratare, talking about the mysteries and stories told to him as a kid that made him want to be an author.

Tuesday the 14th of January I´m hosting Nefertiti´s Playhouse and have invited amazing Teresa Indebetou Band. Very welcome to jam with us, we start at 20.00

I´ve been chosen to be a part of Bohuslän Big Bands project Up & Coming for new jazz musicians! They will arrange two of my compositions for the concerts and there are two concerts.
It´s at Vara Konserthus the 29th of January and at Nefertiti the 30th of January!

Trollhättan Jazzförening

Great gig at Folkets Hus, Trollhättan, this saturday 16th of November. Together with the amazing Karin Hammar and Hans Grundberg Quartet (me, Hans Grundberg on bass, Anders Persson on piano and Terje Sundby on drums).

Jazzify!

The 19th of October I traveled to Öland together with the amazing group Teresa Indebetou Band to do two very special concerts. It happened that we got Jazzify from Svensk Jazz and Postkodslotteriet, a new kind of grant for short projects. The project we apply for was that we wanted to go to Öland and play at the refugee camp for the new arrived refugees coming from Syria. And also to make people aware of this we did a public concert at Borgholms Kök och Bar.

It was a very long day traveling from Göteborg to Borgholm, 42 mil, early in the morning and just go straight to Lundegård Refugee camp and play. But oh my god, it was a wonderful experience, the people that came and the children playing, dancing along side their parents… I will never forget this amazing concert! And they were so happy and really spreading their joy for music and maybe for a minute or so just be able to think about something else than just bad things and paper works and pondering. 

In the evening we played a gig at Borgholms Kök och Bar, very different from the one earlier that day. We had some audience and it was nice to play together with the band. Tired, happy and full of emotions we got to bed early to travel all the long way back in the morning. 

I want to say thank you to everyone who made this possible for us:

P-O Rylander and his company Rylander Musikproduktion for coming up with the idea and making things possible, Svensk Jazz and Postkodslotteriet for the grant Jazzify, Borhgolms Kök och Bar for making the second gig possible, Muslim and Rim for making the connection with the refugees and for a great poster, Lundegård Camping for letting us have the concert at your place, Maria Alåsen at Östran, the musicians- Teresa Indebetou, Malin Almgren and Jenny Kristoffersson.

And thank you all for coming to the concerts, I will never forget this!

Gamlestads Galej

Last year I hosted the music competition Musik Direkt for young talents. This year I will host another great event and this one is very close to my heart... and my home! On saturday the 24th my community Gamlestaden will have a festival called Gamlestads Galej. You can listen to good music on our stage, buy cool stuff at our flea market, paint your face (this is for kids) or just stroll around our beautiful Gamelstaden with a coffee in your hand. Between 11.00-17.00 

You can see me on the big stage, presenting the different bands and dance groups, OR you can go to the tent Gamlestadens Jazzfestival and talk to some nice people about a very exciting project taking place next May at Kvibergs Kaserner. 

So come, hang with us this saturday!

Midsommar!

I had a wonderful midsommar playing with amazing Karin Hammar and Hans Grundberg and his band; Anders Persson and Anders Söderling.
It was pouring down outside but it didn´t matter, we had a great and happy audience.
Afterwards we were invited to Turisthotellet who opened up their restaurant and bar just for our sake! We ate a wonderful "midsommar tallrik"with sill and potatoes and got the opportunity to taste beer from their extremely large collection. Very nice!

Thank you everyone who came and didn´t stay at home because of the traditional midsummer weather!
